Children spend a lot of time online – it can be a great way for them to socialise, explore and have fun. But children do also face risks such cyber bullying, identity misuse or seeing content that is inappropriate.

That's why it's important for them to know how to stay safe online: how to protect themselves and others and how to conduct themselves respectfully; what personal information is safe and what is unsafe to share; how online friends are not like real friends.

Whether you're unsure about what happens online, or are up to speed with new technology, it is important that you talk to your child about staying safe.

Understanding what your child does online and the risks they face will help you keep your child safe online.
