Tag Rugby Festival
Dursley Rugby Club, Thursday 16th March 2017
On Thursday, Mr Blackwood took eleven children to Dursley Rugby Club to take part in the tag rugby festival. The children enjoyed working together and became a fantastic team very quickly. There were some very impressive rugby skills on show too! Well done to all those children who participated - your behaviour and attitude was superb.
Cross Country Event 4
KLB School, Saturday 28th January 2017
On Saturday, Mr Blackwood watched with pride as our cross country representatives completed their final race of the season. Conditions were a bit muddier than usual, but this didn't stop the runners as they showed fantastic perseverance and determination to finish the race and the season strongly. It was fantastic to see all the families cheering on the runners again! A special mention must go to Leo in Willow Class, who was desperate to run on Saturday but was too ill to compete. This didn't stop him coming along with his family to support the school though!
All in all, a really proud moment for Mr Blackwood and the school. Well done runners, bring on next season's races!
Cross Country Event 3
KLB School, Saturday 3rd December 2016
Mr Blackwood was thrilled to see so many children braving the cold weather again on Saturday as they competed in the third cross country event of the year. Another change to the running course made it a challenge for our runners, but they handled the new route very well. In fact, many children improved their final position yet again! Very well done to all of our runners.
Boys Football Tournament
Rednock School, Wednesday 9th November 2016

On Wednesday, Mr Blackwood took nine boys to Rednock School to compete in the district football tournament. It was a great occasion and the boys were extremely excited and proud to represent the school, especially in our brand new kit! After a 1-0 defeat in the opening game, the boys got together superbly well and began to work as a team. They then went on to win all of the remaining five games without conceding another goal! This meant that the boys finished in 2nd place overall, which is a brilliant result and another very proud moment for the school. Mr Blackwood would like to thank the staff and parents that supported this event by helping to take the boys to and from the tournament, as well as cheering on from the side-lines. Well done boys!
Cross Country Event 2
KLB School, Saturday 5th November 2016
It was a cold morning on Saturday but conditions were perfect for our second cross country event of the year. Another fantastic turnout from our runners meant that there was lots of cheering on as the children passed their friends and families, who were supporting them fantastically well all around the circuit. Many of our runners even managed to improve upon their result from the first race! It was clear to see that our running club at school was helping many of the children. Mr Blackwood was extremely proud of all the runners!
Cross Country Event 1

On Saturday, Mr Blackwood was thrilled to see such a fantastic turnout at KLB School for the year's first Cross Country event. An amazing 22 children from Cam Woodfield Junior School challenged themselves in a competition that requires excellent perseverance - every single one of our runners showed great determination, particularly some of our newer runners who have not had a lot of long-distance running experience!
The conditions were perfect for a great race, and Mr Blackwood and the children's families enjoyed cheering the children on as they ran past on their way to the finish line in our school's brand new running vests! Congratulations to all of competitors, we can't wait to see you at the next cross country event!
Our First Intra-School Sports Competition!
This year, we were very excited start off the sporting calendar by running our very own sports event called Cam Woodfield's Intra-School Sports Competition. This was a fantastic success - all morning we had fun competing in our house colours. It was brilliant to see children of all ages working together and supporting each other so well. We awarded points for how well each team competed in each game, but also gave bonus points for all of the wonderful "sporting attitude" that was on show from each house.
In fact, those Sporting Attitude points made all the difference on the day, and the winning house with a whopping 699 points was....

New Sports Kit, July 2016
Cam Woodfield Junior School is very proud to present its brand new sports kit, to be worn in a variety of sporting events and competitions in the future! The kit comes in our school colours of blue and gold, with a lovely embroidered crest, meaning our players can represent the school with great pride. We also have a great new goalkeeper's shirt in a fluorescent yellow and again with an embroidered badge. All of the shirts have been very kindly sponsored by Norville Opticians. Many thanks to them for their contributions, and also to Under-The-Edge Media for coming in to photograph some of our players in their new kit. Sports Day, 21st June 2016
What a brilliant Sports Day we had this year! The weather was lovely and we managed to see so many excellent sprinters, long distance runners and skippers. A huge well done to every single competitor - we were so proud to see all of your determination, perseverance, encouragement and wonderful teamwork - I know that many people surprised themselves!

Cross Country Race 3, KLB School, Saturday 16th January 2016
Another fantastic turnout from our Cam Woodfield Junior School cross country runners! On a very cold, frosty morning, our representatives showed brilliant enthusiasm and determination to challenge themselves and try to beat their personal bests from previous races, with many successes!
Mr Blackwood and Mrs Wyatt were delighted to cheer on the runners as they crossed the finish line, and were extremely proud of everyone's efforts. Well done to all of our cross country runners!
Netball Tournament, December 2015
Phoebe, Chloe, Zara, Isabel, Kelsey, Teah, Mitch and Aidan represented the school in the district Hi Five Netball Tournament at Rednock on Wednesday afternoon. They played an excellent standard of netball; quick passing, accurate shooting and supportive teamwork. As a result, they ended the tournament as runners-up, having played 5 games and winning 4 of them - well done to our netballers!
Netball Club has now finished for this year. All the children who attended have improved their skills and had a lot of fun!
Skipping Day, Thursday 8th October 2015
On Thursday, Skippy John came into school to deliver a fun-packed day full of new skipping activities and learning for all children. We learned about skipping for health, fun and fitness, and learnt about and took part in lots of new and traditional skipping games, including Individual skills, partner skipping, Double Dutch and long rope team games. The children had a fantastic time and also enjoyed the skipping show at the end of the day – we’re sure to see a lasting legacy of new and exciting skipping activities on the playground! Thanks very much to Skip4Life for coming in and working with the children and the staff.
Tag Rugby World Cup, Wednesday 7th October 2015
Mr Blackwood took Year 4 and Year 5 children to Dursley Rugby Football Club to compete in the Tag Rugby World Cup Tournament with other local schools. Our school was selected to represent Ireland! We had a lot of fun, and we were able to demonstrate the skills we have learned in tag rugby club. After some fantastic matches, we came 3rd in our group and made it into the playoffs, narrowly losing to New Zealand and coming 4th overall. It was lovely to see fantastic sportsmanship and respect, as well as the brilliant skills that the team demonstrated. Well done to our players!
Cross Country Races 2015/16
Congratulations to our cross country runners, who took part in the first and second district running events of the year at KLB School.
30 runners have represented the school in some very challenging conditions, and did themselves and the school very proud. Many runners who have ran for the school before even managed to beat their previous records and places! Boys Football Tournament, November 2015
Mr Blackwood took 10 Year 5/6 footballers to take part in the district football tournament at Rednock School. The team showed some fantastic skill, but also great teamwork, positivity and perseverance in some very testing matches. The boys managed to win 5 out of their 6 games and this resulted in the team finishing in joint first place. Mr Blackwood was extremely proud of the team spirit showed. Well done boys!

Swimming Gala 12th June
On Tuesday, Mr Blackwood took Isobel, Caitlin, Charlie, Tom, Phoebe, Kelsey, Noah and Mitch to Dursley Pool to compete in the district swimming gala. Everyone performed very well and represented the school excellently. Well done to our swimmers.
Football 27th January
On Tuesday, Cam Woodfield Junior girls football team took part in a football festival at Rednock. They played against girls from other local schools in a mini tournament. They all played brilliantly! Thank you to parents for their support and transport and well done to Amy Q, Amy B, Rebecca G, Heather, Kelsey W, Phoebe, Lauren, Charlotte T, Charlotte P and Jessica for taking part.
Cross Country 18th January 2015
Well done to all the children and parents who ran in the final cross country on Saturday. It was very muddy but not too cold. Thank you to Mrs Matthews who warmed the children up before they raced and who has worked together with Mr Durden, Mrs White & Mr Blackwood to train and encourage the team.There were a lot of individual successes and personal achievements, well done runners!

Football Tournament - 11 th November
Mr Blackwood took Year 5 & 6 pupils to Rednock to take
part in the boys’ football tournament. Ben, Thomas, Haydon, Tiago,
Bayley, Charlie, Mitchell, Sam, Helder & our captain Bradley worked
fantastically as a team & represented the school extremely well. After
quite a tricky start, we quickly picked ourselves up & managed to win
our final 3 matches, finishing in 3rd place. Overall it was a great
experience & the boys all enjoyed working hard as a team.

This has been a very successful year for the teams that have represented our extra-curricular clubs that take place either before school, after school or at lunchtime. CWJ children have won the district netball, football, hockey, cricket, and rounders tournaments. They were runners up in rugby and girls cricket and our athletes and swimmers also experienced successes at district sports, cross country and the swimming gala. We held our own badminton championship and everybody took part in Sports Day last week. Wonderful!
On Wednesday 9th July the rounders team travelled to Lakefield Primary School to play the final of the district championship. The game was extremely fun to watch
as both teams had fantastic players who could bat & field competently. However, when the final whistle blew, our team were triumphant with a 7½ - 5½ victory.
Well done to the whole team who displayed great sportsmanship. Many thanks to Mr Macey, Mrs White & Mrs Chappell who helped transport the children.
CRICKET NEWS - Wednesday 9th July
Led by Will, our cricket team of Joe, Zack, Mitch, Archie, Ben D, Liam, Ben L and Will, represented the school cricket club in the district schools' tournament on Wednesday at Cam Cricket Club and emerged as winners. They played two group games and a semi-final to qualify for, and eventually win, an exciting and competitive final against Cam Everlands. Lots of runs, including T20 style 4s and 6s, were scored, wickets taken, with safe catches and boundary saving slides contributing to enthusiastic fielding. A great performance, well done and

Cricket Tournament -12th June
A team of girls who have received Chance to Shine cricket coaching, played in a tournament at Cam Cricket Club and finished as runners-up.Using improving batting, bowling, fielding and decision making skills they won 2 out of 3 group games and a semi-final. We are proud of Lauren, Ellie, Amy, Olivia, Lauren, Zuzanna, Kelsey and Heather.
Swimming Gala -12th June
Annie-May, Olivia, Phoebe, Charlotte, Finley, Charlie, Zack & Tom represented the school yesterday in the interschool swimming gala. They put their hearts and souls
into their races and were great supporters of each other.
Our school came a credible third—very well done to all our swimmers.
On Wednesday 26th March, 10 players went to Dursley Primary School to play in a tag rugby competition. We won all four games in our groups then proceeded to play in the final against St Josephs’ School. The match was full of Excitement, but unfortunately we sadly lost 4-5 and came second overall. Thank you to Sam Greenland and all our supporters for cheering us on all the way.
Hockey—On Wednesday the hockey team—Ellie, Lauren, Ryan R, Amy, Will, Zack, Liam, Pearce & Ben (captain) played in the Dursley District Hockey tournament on the astroturf at Rednock. We won all our games against Berkeley, St Josephs, Sharpness, Dursley & then won against Cam Everlands in the final 1-0. We had a great time; we are so proud and a big thank you to Mrs Cotterell, Mrs Cotterell and all the parents who helped with transport and supporting us. Football-On Tuesday, Mr Blackwood took the year 6 football team to play their final after winning the district tournament last month. The boys were very excited to be playing St Joseph’s school in the final, but they managed to play
fantastically well as a whole team and were delighted to win the game 7-3. Every single player that has taken part in the tournament & the final should be extremely proud to have won all of the fames involved, and we are looking forward to receiving our trophy. Y3&4 Rugby Tournament
On Wednesday, Mr Blackwood took ten Y3/4 pupils to Dursley Rugby Club to take part in a tag rugby festival. Jaden, Rhys, Adam, Ethan, Jake, Connor, Tyrhys, William, Teah and our captain Mitch worked fantastically as a team, and represented the school extremely well. We won our first match against Dursley B team, drew our next two games against Blue Coat and North Nibley and were very unfortunate to be beaten in our final game against
Lakefield. Overall it was a great experience and we have all learnt plenty of new skills.
Netball Level 2 Competition
Yesterday, Thursday 23 January, the netball team—Ellie, Lauren, Annie-May, Olivia, Savannah, Nadia, Ryan & Archie—played in the district finals. Our first game was against Kingswood and we won 3-2 with Ryan scoring twice followed by Lauren scoring the winner! Our next game was against The British School which we lost 3-0. Every team
won 1 and lost 1, so it was decided on goal difference, which meant that we came second. We are very proud of the team and had a great time. Thank you Mrs Cotterell, Mrs White and Mrs Fulford for taking us.

On Wednesday 22 January we went to Rednock to play against 5 other schools. Therewere some tough matches but we won them all by playing as a team & won the competition. Our team was Joe(Captain), Ben(Vice), Zack, Sam, Finley, Mitch, Pearce, Ben R, Oliver & Will. A massive thank you to Mr Blackwood for coaching us . All in all a great tournament & we brought the trophy back to school.

Y3/4 Mini Games
We are offering a mini games club for 20 Y3/4 children after school on Mondays (3.20 to 4.15pm) for 6 weeks starting on 4 November . It will be organised by a qualified sports assistant from Rednock School. If your child would like to join this club, please complete the above slip and return to school by Tuesday 22 October.

Races start again on Saturday 5 October.
Y3/4 run 1200m & Y5/6 1500m. The first race at KLB School starts at 10am and there is an initial entry fee of £2.00 to cover all four races (5/10, 19/10, 7/12 & 18/1). This is a great opportunity for children to represent our school regardless of ability. If your child wishes to take part, please complete the slip and return it to school by Tuesday 1 October together with their £2 entry fee, so that arrangements can be made. Details of further races will follow.

We enjoyed perfect weather for our Sports day on Tuesday afternoon. The children’s running and skipping skills were very impressive and the
competition fierce. Well done to the Yellow Team who won by 1 point. Thank you to all the supporters, it was good to see such a big crowd. Thank you to
the staff, volunteers and governors who enabled the event to run smoothly.
District Sports - Monday 17th & Wednesday 19th June
District Sports were on Monday & Wednesday evening and proved we have many talented jumpers, throwers and runners. Many of our athletes were in top 3 placings and therefore took their turn on the victory rostrum. The evening finished with exciting relays. Thank you for vocal support! Gloucestershire School Games—County Finals
We were very excited last week that our High 5 netball team were going to represent the Stroud and Dursley district on Friday at Cheltenham Junior College. On Monday we received the very good news that our Y3 and Y4 Quad Kids Athletics team had also won the area competition and were invited to take part in the County Final. This is a fantastic achievement and we wish them well today. Thank you to all the parents who are supporting us.
A team of 4 boys & 4 girls from Y5&6 took part in the local schools swimming gala yesterday. There will be a full report and photographs next week. We reluctantly returned the shield we won last year and then happily won it again this again!
