4th January 2021 - National Lockdown Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following tonight’s announcement by the Prime Minister, you will now be aware that the schools will be closing tomorrow (Tuesday 5th January) until mid-February.  Emergency childcare will be provided for those children who are vulnerable or have parents who are critical keyworkers. You will appreciate, that given such short notice, the administration and organisation of this will need to be addressed.  Therefore, as a result, school will be closed to all pupils tomorrow (5th January) and Wednesday (6th January). Key Worker / Vulnerable children provision will begin no later than Thursday 7th January and those pupils who are eligible for this, will be notified accordingly.

A text has already been circulated to parents notifying them that school will be closed to all children tomorrow in order to switch to online learning.  We are anticipating that there will be some children, due to childcare difficulties and family situations, who will be unable to access this at present.  The school fully understands the implications that tonight’s announcement has had on all families within our community and is hoping that all children will be able to access learning by Friday.  The Government have stated that all learning is to take place remotely.

We also appreciate that this action by the government has been last minute and that families are wondering how their children can access learning at the same time, with limited resources at home. If this is a concern for you and your family then please contact the school tomorrow.  Several newsletters and surveys regarding access to remote learning, have previously been circulated to parents, in order for the school to provide support where needed.  The school’s remote learning policy and blended learning programme are accessible on the school’s website and has been circulated to parents in previous correspondence.  The link to the website and the documentation is here for you to access:

We are so proud of our children at CWJS and like you, we want the very best for them during these unprecedented times and it goes without saying, the continued support that you have shown the school has been nothing short of amazing!  A huge thank you!
