Elm Class Year 4

Welcome to Elm Class
Our Autumn theme is:
The Search for the Tomb of Osiris

During the Autumn term, Elm class will be travelling back in time to learn all about Ancient Egypt in their quest to find the Tomb of Osiris. We will learn about the pyramids, what they believed about Gods, mummification and the afterlife as well as daily life including work, education, farming and life on The River Nile.

Please see the homework expectations:

To support our theme, we will be reading “Egyptology: Search for the Tomb of Osiris.” It was supposedly written in 1926 by Emily Sands, and is a pictorial journal recording everything she saw on an expedition.  It will be used in our English lessons where we will learn about the experiences, artifacts and other clues to build a picture of what it was like living in ancient Egypt. We will be exploring and writing a range of different texts including diaries, newspaper reports and non-chronological reports.

In Maths, we will be focusing on number and understanding Place Value, as well as exploring how to solve problems and strengthen our reasoning skills. We will also be learning shapes in geometry. We will work hard to learn our multiplication table facts.
