Willow Class Year 4

Welcome to Willow Class!
Our Summer Term Theme is

VIKINGS

During the Summer term, Willow class will be exploring raids and invasions in our Vikings theme; we will be focusing our historical enquiry on how and why the Vikings invaded Britain and what impact that has had on life today. In science, we will be learning about sound and electricity. In geography, we will be learning about the European Union and continuing to expand our countries knowledge with the daily Globle game.  We will be developing our drawing skills in Art and using mechanical devices in DT.  Each week we will find new clues and items in our 'Curiosity Corner' to help spark our imagination and lead us to new discoveries about our theme.

In Maths, we will be focusing on our practice on times tables as well as furthering our skills with decimals, fractions and measurements. We will be developing our problem solving skills by applying our new learning to a range of different contexts.

For an overview of our learning this term, please read the parent overview below.

Times tables

Children are encouraged to continue using TimesTable Rockstars at home each week. Every child has their username and password to enable them to log in. This will be checked in school, if you have any problems logging in, please speak to the class teacher.

Our Books this Term

In English this term, we will be using the books ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ by Cressida Cowell and ‘Viking Voyagers’ by Jack Tite to inspire our writing. We will be writing a range of text types including instructions, narratives, discussions and persuasive writing.  We will also be using these texts to develop our comprehension skills focusing on inference and retrieval.
